Sapphire, best known as the chosen engagement-stone for Princess Diana in 1981, is found in more variations of color than just blue. A wide spectrum of colors such as yellow, pink and orange exist. The intensity of the color being the single most important criteria, next to the distinction of a stone’s origin. Some of the most beautiful stones, as is this particular example, come from a small island in the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka.
